Justin Johnson Commits to Western Kentucky

2014 Perry County Central forward Justin Johnson committed to Western Kentucky yesterday afternoon. Johnson averaged 16.3 points and 10.0 rebounds per game last season for the Commodores. He was also named second team all-state and was part of the Kentucky junior All-Star team.
Johnson continued that strong play on the summer circuit with Travelers Basketball. The Travelers play in the Nike EYBL and Johnson helped them make the EYBL Finals at the Nike Peach Jam for the first time since 2006.

The success he found with the Travelers translated to his recruitment as he picked up high major offers from Boston College, Providence and Auburn. He also received interest from Virginia Tech, Tennessee and Oklahoma State. However, he ultimately picked Western Kentucky over Miami (OH), Boston College and more than 20 other offers.
Johnson told me that the decision to commit to WKU was the best decision for both himself and his family. He also thinks he'll fit in great at Western Kentucky.
Johnson told me that with his commitment out of the way he's got some big goals for his senior year. "My goal is to win a state championship and my personal goal is to win Mr. basketball."
