Hardwood Spotlight: 2016 G Darius Williams

2016 Paul Laurence Dunbar Guard Darius Williams is one of the toughest players to stop in his class. At 6'3" 185 lbs he is extremely strong and excels at getting into the lane. He also has a knack for getting to the free throw line, and he normally makes you pay once he gets there.
The next step for Williams is the development of a mid-range jumper. If he can develop that along with his ability to get to the rim then he will be very difficult to stop. He also needs to work on becoming more of a distributor, if he can become a better passer and playmaker he'll truly fit the description of a combo guard. Williams mentioned that he's also been working on his defense as well.

He already has interest from both Western Kentucky and Samford and I expect he'll get more interest with time.
Williams will have a lot of opportunities to perform at an elite level this high school season. Paul Laurence Dunbar graduated their top four leading scorer from a year ago, including both William Gary and Mike Smith at the guard spots. Williams will be one of the guys expected to step up, compete and assume a larger role in what may be a down season for the Bulldogs. "I'm going to compete, but it might be a tough year as a whole."
Darius Williams has one of the brightest futures in what is a loaded 2016 class in Kentucky. If he can continue to improve his game then he has the potential to be the next great guard to come out of Lexington.
