Freshman Spotlight: Kiara Pankins

The 2017 class is shaping up to be extremely solid with a lot of talented freshman to be. Kentucky Preps will be taking a look at some of the best freshman girls to be in a series called Freshman Spotlight. We'll be asking each of the players 20 questions to get to know some of them as they start their high school career.
2017 Lafayette Guard Kiara Pankins averaged 11 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks per game for Kentucky Premier this Summer. She averaged 7 poins, 4 rebounds , 1 assist and 1 steal per game as the varsity's 6th first sub last season.

Q. (Donald Yaste): What High School will you be attending?
A. (Kiara Pankins): Lafayette High School in Lexington, KY.
Q. (DY): How has this Summer prepared you for this coming high school season?
A. (KP): I worked on all aspects of my game through camps, games and workouts to be able to help my team get to where we want to go, which is the Sweet Sixteen.
Q. (DY): What expectations do you have for yourself going into this high school season?
A. (KP): To average 15 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 3-4 blocks and 4 steals. Also to make all district, all region and all city teams again.
Q. (DY): What are your expectations for your team?
A. (KP): To win district again, win region and go to State.
Q. (DY): What is your current height and weight?
A. (KP): I'm 5'10' and 160 lbs.
Q. (DY): Describe your style of play?
A. (KP): Run and gun on offense and play in your face on defense to get easy buckets.
Q. (DY): What are you strengths?
A. (KP): Shooting, rebounding, attacking the rim, great work ethic and I'm a good teammate.
Q. (DY): What are your weaknesses?
A. (KP): Not being vocal enough on court and reading the passing lanes.
Q. (DY): What do you hope to accomplish through playing basketball?
A. (KP): To always do my best in everything and compete. Also to play college basketball and professionally one day.
Q. (DY): Have any colleges reached out to you at this point? If so who?
A. (KP): Yes. University of Dayton, Kent State, University of Wisconsin-Milwaulkee, Robert Morris and Lipscomb.
Q. (DY): What is your greatest fear?
A. (KP): Having a career ending injury.
Q. (DY): What is your best characteristic?
A. (KP): I have a positive attitude.
Q. (DY): What is your nickname and how did you get it?
A. (KP): Ki, I've always been called that
Q. (DY): What is one hidden talent you possess?
A. (KP): Singing.
Q. (DY): What is your favorite quote?
A. (KP): "If it was easy, everyone would do it"

A. (KP): Chicken.
Q. (DY): Who is your biggest role model?
A. (KP): My mom.

A. (KP): Notre Dame or Florida.
