Cardinal Boulevard separates Manual's campus from Louisville's campus. A strong armed Manual quarterback could hit a Louisville student from the high school's practice field. Sometimes on team conditioning runs, the Crimsons crossed Cardinal and headed down to S. Floyd to Papa John's Cardinal Stadium on team conditioning runs. Aidan Robbins now understands that path literally and figuratively, because he chose the 'Cards over in-state rival Kentucky, as well as Purdue, Missouri, and Vanderbilt today.

"Playing for my city in front of my family and friends means a lot to me. I’ve always wanted to be a Cardinal since I was a kid," said Robbins

The Louisville coaches have been recruiting Robbins for nearly three years, so it can be said they wanted Robbins to be a Cardinal since he was a kid, as well.

"I just felt Louisville was the best place for me and my family. They whole staff, Bobby Petrino, Kolby Smith, Mike Summers, Pete Nochta have all been recruiting me since I was a freshman. They showed me the most love and I feel Louisville sets me up for the best possible combination of athletic and academic success," said Robbins.

The fruits of the Louisville's labor were harvested from their backyard today as Robbins became the second in-state recruit and fifth overall in Louisville's 2019 class, moving them to 53rd nationally.

Robbins vowed there is still a lot of work to be done on the recruiting trail.

"I’m trying to get all the boys from the city to come to Louisville. Milton (Wright), J.J. (Weaver), Shawnkell (Knight-Goff), Tae Tae (Demontae Crumes), Jared (Casey) and potentially Stephen (Herron)," advised Robbins.

I don't know if Robbins can pull off his lofty recruiting goals but today isn't about other prospects. Today is about Robbins, the kid who grew up practicing right across the street from Louisville for years, a Louisville kid who came a long way to go a short distance.
