2014 Louisville KY LB commits to WKU

Monday evening, Louisville Central's Phillip Francis announced he would take a preferred walk-on spot with Western Kentucky University over a scholarship offer from Indiana St. and a preferred walk-on at EKU.
"It's a program on the rise and I want to be a part of it. I believe in the system that Brohm is trying to run and I can't wait to contribute." Francis told Kentuckypreps.com before the announcement via Twitter.
At Central Francis played mostly linebacker and ran the ball his senior year. At WKU his role will be as a strong safety.
This commitment comes only a week after the 5-foot-10, 205-pound athlete was offered a preferred walk-on spot.
Before this year's loss to Wayne Co. in the quarter-finals of the state championship tournament, Central had won three straight Class 3-A finals. Francis played some role on all three of those teams.
Francis finished by reflecting on his career at Central, "It was tough going coming in freshman year but as I got bigger and faster I was able to compete with older athletes and also win three big one's."
