1.AJ Slaughter (6'1" PG/SG 2006) - Shelby County
Leading candidate for Mr. Basketball. Total package at both point and shooting guard. Has ability to take over game. Can drive lane at will for shot or dish. Range extends arc. Shot equally effective from set or off dribble. Plays best in half court set. Continued to improve against top national players over the summer.
2.Aaron Dunaway (6'3" SG 2006) - Henry Clay
Plays big in big games. Can shoot lights out. Range extends arc, hit midrange shots consistently. Has handles and is effective in open court. Intense defender, strong on-ball D. Makes other players around him rise to his level. Continues to improve speed and strength. Will challenge for Mr. Basketball.
3.Leroy Nobles (6'5" SG/SF 2006) - Louisville Central
Stock vaulted junior year. Tremendous athlete. Creates havoc as mismatch problem for smaller defenders. Can hit 3's with tight defense. Has had ability to get to basket with ease, but now can finish strong in half court set. Can defend perimeter and post. Full-court offensive threat and finishes strong on breaks. Rebounds strong for guard.
4.Walt Allen (6'5" PF/C 2006) - South Laurel
Has outstanding overall game. Savvy post player, with solid shooting range. Can run floor well, top half-court player. Extremely strong finisher at basket. Solid, fundamental rebounder and defender. Understands game, how to win. Senior leadership will be huge factor as team attempts to repeat as state champions.
5.Ty Proffitt (6'3" PG 2007) - South Laurel
Can do it all. Top floor leader. Can create own shot, has range extending arc. Strong handles, can penetrate toughest defenses. Playmaker at crunch. Solid on-ball defender. Plays to win.
6.Jeremy Anderson (6'3" SG 2007) - Warren Central
Offensive force, can score in bunches. Finishes strong in transition. Unlimited range. Quick and agile, can defend the point. Strong summer has improved his stock. Will continue to improve.
7Russell Mackins (6'7" PF 2007) - Trigg County
Fast becoming the dominant player folks in Trigg County expected. Can post up anyone and displays versatility with midrange jumper. Could be state's best talent by season's end.
8.Josh Mack (5'11" PG 2006) - University Heights
Floor leader without fear. Defensive intensity off charts. Shot range solid 15 feet in. Unreal handles, creates offense off dribble. Can dictate tempo of games. Will challenge any defense. Court awareness is advantage.
9Daniel Ard (6'6" PF/C 2006) - Marshall County
Fierce competitor. Rebounds with pride, effective offensive rebounder. Extremely agile for size. Can run court in transition, finishes strong. Solid ballhandling skills and passer from the post. Consistent shooter at 10 feet in. Improved interior defense.
10Stephone Pettigrew (6'5" PF/C 2007) - Elizabethtown
Mr. Hustle. Claims every rebound is his. Relentless in the paint, defense and offense. Will push and battle, finishes in transition. Summer has proved solid for coming season. If improves shooting range, will be complete.
11.Brian Staed (6'9" C 2006) - Boyle County
Stock rising fast as pure post player. Strength always an advantage. Improved footwork, mobility around basket. Soft shooting touch, but strong finisher when attacking basket. If catches ball in post, will score. Post defense is strong, transition defense lagging.
12.Vincent Crutcher (6'5" SF 2006) - Pleasure Ridge Park
Top perimeter player. Poses mismatch problems with smaller guards with height and strength. Deceptively quick. Has solid handles. Average shot off dribble, deadly accurate shot when spotted up. Can hit 3's in clutch. Must improve defense.
13.Jonathan VanHoose (6'4" SG 2007) - Russell
Pure shooter, pin-point accurancy at 20 feet plus. Quickness is deceiving. Fast off dribble, incredible court awareness. Top basketball IQ. Solid ballhanding skills, better passer. Equally sharp in transition and half-court set. Defense improving.
14.Twany Beckham (6'5" SG/SF 2007) - Louisville Ballard
Solid overall game. Quick, agile, can leap. Strong to basket, can finish. Tough for point and shooting guards to defend. Has improved shooting range to 15 feet. Ballhandling has improved. Defends post and perimeter.
15.Josh Clemons (6'10" C 2006) - Ohio County
Improved drastically over past two seasons. Has opened up offense with better agilities/footwork. Has improved transition game. Fundamental rebounder and defender. Shot has improved, but needs to be more aggressive in offensive post. Look for continued improvement as season starts and progresses.
16.Darius Miller (6'4" SF 2008) - Mason County
Complete package. Can dominate inside/out. Solid shooting range, finishes in transition. Can defend post and perimeter. Strong rebounder. Development has accelerated past year. Rising star..
17Russell Allen (6'8" C 2006) - Bourbon County
Increased shooting consistency allowed for greater presence in post. Solid interior passer. Can run court well at position/size. Plays physical and with intensity. Post defense is strong, aggressive rebounder. Still has tremendous untapped potential.
18.Forrest Smallwood (6'4" SG/SF 2006) - Louisville Male
Solid overall game. Strong leaper with good speed. Great court awareness, can lead and finish on breaks. Shooting range extends arc, can score in bunches. Can hit 3's off dribble. Above average handles, better passer. Average on-ball defense, must rebound better.
19Dan Penick (6'9" CPF 2006) - Ludlow
Another rapidly improving player. Could reach top 5. Tremendous open-court player for size. Can get out on breaks. Solid passer at position. Finishes strong at basket and has range that extends 15 feet. Must play more consistent on both ends. Could be top 5 player. Anticipate stock to rise.
20Jaron Jones (6'5" SF 2007) - Bryan Station
Has taken game to another level. A force in the paint, offensively and defensively. Can score from the post and finish strong in transition. Superb rebounder. A name you will hear constantly in the 11th Region.
21.Matt Walls (6'3" PG/SG 2007) - Scott County
Another top floor leader. Can play multi-positions. Extremely strong ballhandler, few turnovers. Clutch player, understands game. Can drive right or left equally. Tremendous court awareness. Shooting range extends to arc. Must improve defense.
22.Aaron Boyd (6'3" SF 2008) - Henry Clay
Extremely athletic, quick. Strong in transition. Shooting range extends to arc. Excellent passer. Explosive to the basket, strong rebounder. Impact player.
23.Randon Cavette (6'4" PF 2006) - Graves County
Continues to develop complete game. Can score inside/out. Shooting range extends to arc, consistently hits from 5 to 10 feet out. Solid open court player, better half-court. Can defend perimeter, most effective in paint. Stock has quickly risen past year.
24.Thomas Coleman (6'8" C 2007) - Jeffersontown
Fastest developing junior in state. Interior game has improved with overall agilities. Quickness for height allows advantage in transition game. Blocks-out well, becoming top rebounder. Shooting range was limited, now extends to 10 feet. Natural shot-blocker.
25.Adrius Pegues (6'9" C 2006) - Louisville Western
Late developer that has improved each phase of game. Will be a force in the paint defensively and offensively. Agilities improved, shot range at 8 feet in. Tough to box out, could lead 6th Region in rebounds.
26.Rodney Haddix (6'3" SF 2007) - Scott County
Explosive jumper, quick and strong. Has tremendous rise on jump shot, tough to defend. Has improved range to 15 feet. Limited shot creation off dribble offset by ability to slash and finish at the rim. Top offensive rebounder at height. Can defend post and perimeter.
27Mathew Thomas (6'1" SG 2008) - Ashland Blazer
Clutch player. Can shoot off-dribble or spotting up. Has handles, better passer. Defensive stopper, strong on-ball D. Continues to get stronger.
28.Johanne Hamilton (6'1" PG/SG 2007) - Louisville Ballard
State's most explosive player. Unreal ability to drive to the hole. Can take any position off the dribble. Plays transition in overdrive. Shot has improved in consistancy. Must learn half-court game and point position. Can lock up top PG's. Predicted to rise further in rankings.
29.Jay Ivey (6'8" C/PF 2006) - Owensboro Catholic
Strength and raw size is always an advantage. Can dominate and control paint on both ends. Limited post moves offset with ability to gain position near basket. Can shoot effectively from 8 feet and in. Top defensive rebounder. Must improve agilities and transitional defense.
30.William Bradley (6'2" CG/F 2007) - Caverna
Court awareness top asset. Solid open court player, finishes strong in transition. Strong rebounder at height. Versatile offensive player that can play on the perimeter and down low on the block. Defense is improving. Shooting range improved, can hit 3's. Strong work habits and leadership qualities.
31.Trah Moore (6'3" SF 2006) - DuPont Manual
Physical player on both ends. Explosive leaper and top rebounder at height. Aggressive offensive player, with shooting range at 15 feet. Can defend perimeter, post players equally effective. Strong open court player that can lead and finish breaks.
32.Terrance Britt (5'10 PG 2006) - Fern Creek
Super quick, handles off chart. Streaky shooter that can hit 3's. Limited shooting range offset with ability to create shots for others in a blink. Can control tempo of any game. Has ability to make big plays. Must learn patience in offensive half-court set, decision making is questionable. Can be state's top point guard.
33.Jacob Jenkins (6'3" SG/PG 2009) - DuPont Manual
Prolific scorer, shot is pure, unlimited range, scores in bundles. Has handles, plays defense. Proven against top talent at higher levels in summer. Top freshman in Kentucky.
34.Chase Denson (6'0" PG 2006) - Lone Oak
Solid floor leader, offensively and defensively. Fundamental defender, with average on-ball pressure. Tremendous passer, better ballhandler. Has strong court vision when leading break. Can effectively play full and half court game. Shot is streaky, but can hit 3's.
35.Matt Fraliex (6'4" PG/SG 2007) - Caldwell County
Overall solid game. Can score and create for others. Half and full court threat. Can defend 4 spots. Solid ballhandler and good court awareness. Continues to develop shooting range that extends to arc.
36.Nick Britt (5'11" PG/SG 2007) - Warren Central
Tenacious point guard that plays full-throttle. Solid defender, better floor leader. Makes few mistakes. Clutch player. Quickness with ball is an advantage.
37Josh Crawford (6'4" SG/PG 2009) - Corbin
Sweet 16 appearance and experience. Accurate shooter and strong defender. Great agilities, strong in transition and perimeter. Will only improve.
38. Landon Slone (6'3" CG 2008) - Paintsville
Rising star in Region 15 the past year. Can score in a variety of ways, tough to defend. Will continue to rise and become one of the state's top players by senior year.
39. Justin Jones (6'5" SF/C 2006) - Bryan Station
Versatile player. Effective in half-court set, explosive in the paint. Can fill the lanes, finishes strong in transition or half-court. Slasher with an impressive shooting touch that extends to 15 feet. Post defense is improving.
40.Michael Jackson (6'7" PF/C 2006) - Bowling Green
Steadily improving. Can be a force in the paint at both ends. Offensive effectiveness will be greater this year with added shooting range that now extends to 10 feet. Can finish in transition, better at half-court. Must be more assertive on boards.
41.Patrick Elliott (6'6" C/PF 2006) - Pendleton County
Proven post player. Strong post defender, can defend outside the paint. Fundamental rebounder with an aggressive edge. Must become more assertive when posting up. Can finish in transition, better in half-court set. Limited shooting range at 8 to 10 feet. Must continue to increase agilities and footwork.
42.Trey Smith (6'8" PF/C 2007) - South Laurel
Proven post player. Worker in the paint, offensively and defensively. Limited shooting range offset by ability rebound on offensive end and score on put backs. Solid and fundamental defender. Will improve with stronger footwork.
43.Brett Miller (6'8" C 2006) - Carroll Co.
Strong overall game. Pure center with multiple post moves. Effective defensive rebounder. Can run court, transition defense lags. Solid shooting touch at 8 to 10 feet. Must become better interior passer when defense keys on him. Look for more aggressive post play coming season.
44.Duran Jefferson (5'11" SG/SF 2007) - Covington Holmes
Agilities are off the chart. Tremendous in transition, can pull up and hit short-range jumper. Strong on-ball defender, rebounds well for guard. Can shoot off the dribble, creates fast break opportunities with speed.
45.Douglas Beaumont (5'10" PG 2007) - Louisville Male
Court general, strong and fast. Has handles and creates offense for teammates from driving lane. Has knack for finding for putting players in position to score. Tenacious defender that can lock-up most point guards. Has increase range, can hit 3's.
46.Maze Stallworth (6'2" SG/SF 2006) - John Hardin
Stock has risen quickly. Extremely explosive open court player. Creates chaos with defense. Must become more fundamental on boards, height is disadvantage at forward spot. Shot has improved, must be more consistent.
47Jon-Michael Fletcher (6'4" SF 2006) - Breckinridge County
Overall game has improved. Increased shooting ranging and better defense has allowed stock to climb. Can score in the paint and on perimeter. Will be more effective in half-court set coming season. Expect more production on the boards. Defense must continue to improve.
48. Jeff Brooks (6'6" PF 2007) - Louisville Doss
Extremely agile and quick for height. Can run the court and plays relentlessly near the rim. Limited shooting range offset with ability to get to the rack and put back offensive boards. Stock on the rise.
49.Bud Mackey (6'3" PG/SG 2008) - Scott County
Explosive open-court player. Sharp ball-handling skills. Solid passer with court awareness. Improving defender, plays hard. Shooting streaky. Must get stronger.
50.Allen Murray (6'6" C 2008) - Pleasure Ridge Park
Fierce post player. Can own boards. Variety of post moves, good footwork. Strong body, impossible to push around. Improving defensive skills, shot range good from 10 feet in. Stock on the rise.
51.Drew McDavid (6'3" SG 2007) - Ashland Blazer
Excellent scorer with extended shooting range. Can shoot off the spot or drive. Has ability to create open shots for teammates with passing ability. Solid open court player, better in half-court set.
52.Jordan Hammonds (6'5" SF 2007) - South Laurel
Continues to improve various phases of game, notably offensive post play. Finishes in transition and on the block. Fundamentally sound rebounder and defender. Strength and footwork continue to improve. Increasing range outside of paint. Will not be outworked.
53.Dale Easely (6'2" SF 2006) - Jeffersontown
Can jump out of gym. Extremely hard worker on defense, can defend 1, 2, 3, and 4 positions. Can rebound effectively at height. Strong offensive transition game, but struggles at times on half-court set. Streaky shooter that can hit 3's.
54.Kevin Allen (6'0" PG/SG 2006) - North Oldham
Stock has jumped with strong summer play. Offensive strength is perimeter shooting, 10 to 15 feet. Will challenge taller defenders when driving lane. Can hit 3's consistently. Solid shooter off dribble. Defense is improving. Can defend point and shooting guards equally effective.
55.Chris Evans (6'2" SG 2007) - University Heights
Strong overall game. Continues to improve shooting range and ability to shoot off dribble. Can score in transition, better in half-court set. Solid defender, but improve on on-ball defense. Offense is ahead of defense. Will continue to improve.
56.John Perkins (5'11" PG 2007) - Monticello
Pure point guard with the ability to hit jump shots from 20 feet in. Consistency in hitting open shots has improved. Can dribble drive and create shots for teammates. Highly effective leading breaks and breaking down half court defenses. Stock on the rise.
57Nathan McCauley (6'4" SF 2006) - Louisville DeSales
Relentless worker. Plays D and rebounds with pride. Steady offensive player with range extending to 15 feet. Plays physical and finishes strong in the paint.
58.Davin Anderson (6'2" SG 2007) - Louisville Doss
Versatile guard. Explosive in transition. Has handles, can lead breaks. On-ball D is an asset. Can finish strong at basket, limited shooting range. Must learn to get others involved. Shot selection suspect.
59.Greg Rice (6'3" SF 2007) - Covington Holmes
Offensively can play down low or on wing. Most effective on perimeter when creating mismatch with taller/slower defenders. Has solid range from 12 feet in. Continues to develop at rapid pace.
60.Kristopher Carree (6'1" SG 2007) - Louisville Male
Rising stock. Summer play has proved to aide in shooting range. Can run offense in half-court set effectively, better in transition. Can hit the pull-up jumper, has limited ranger. Tenacious on defense.
61.Taylor Stewart (6'4" PF 2008) - Lexington Catholic
Rising player. Post game is strong, defensive and offensive. Matching perimeter game. Can step out and hit shots. Aggressive defender.
62.Riley Benock (6'3" SG/SF 2007) - Meade County
Versatile player that poses match-up problems. Effective passer and ball handler. Shot range most effective inside 15 feet. Can hit the 3. Must improve footwork to become better defender on the perimeter.
63.Travis Owsley (5'11" PG 2006) - Owensboro Catholic
Court leader that can set the tempo. Offensively can dictate a game with smart play. Seldom takes bad shot. Quick feet allow for strong on-ball pressure defense.
64.Rondale McMillan (6'2" PG 2008) - Bowling Green
Tough competitor. Floor leader, half and full-court. Can create own shot, top ballhandler. Quick/strong defender. Plays relentlessly. Will continue to rise. Shooting range improving.
65.Shelvin Mack (6'2" PG 2008) - Bryan Station
Effective offensive leader. Strong handles, better passer. Improving on-ball defense. Limited shooting but can finish in transition.
66.Chris Williams (6'4" SG/SF 2006) - Woodford County
Improvements over summer have made Williams a top player in the 11th Region. Offensively can score in the paint or behind the arc. Strong rebounder at height. Defense continues to improve.
67Andrew Howard (6'2" SG 2006) - Owensboro Catholic
Proven scorer with range that extends the arc. Can lead the break, pass, or pull-up hit midrange jumper. Solid defender that can check shooting or point guard.
68.Nick Coffey (5'9" PG 2006) - North Bullitt
Rugged point guard that plays fearless at height, offensively and defensively. Strong handles and can penetrate at will. Shots selection is area for improvement. Excels in transitions.
69.Robert Troutman (6'4" SF 2007) - Bullitt East
Continues to develop rapidly. Solid post player, better on perimeter. Developing ballhandling skills, must learn to go left. Has good range that extends to the arc, needs to improve shot selection. Solid defender, both post and perimeter.
70.Darrin Ballou (6'6" PF/C 2009) - Adair Co.
Great size and strong skills for young big man. Developing perimeter skills. Can dominate boards. Runs floor well. Strong summer development.
71.Chad Byron (6'1" SG 2006) - Louisville Trinity
Can shoot with unlimited range. Can shoot off dribble, prefers to spot up. Solid passer, makes few mental mistakes. Defense improving.
72.Pete Gifford (6'1" PG/SG 2006) - Lafayette
Floor leader that does everything well. Range extends arc. Fundamental defender and very good rebounder for size. Known for leadership qualities.
73.Shanade Allen (6'2" CG 2006) - North Laurel
Explosive offensive player. Can dribble drive for shot or dish. Solid defender that will crash boards. Will have solid year in the 13th Region.
74.Josh Chiles (5'10" SG 2008) - Louisville Ballard
Strong competitor/quick. Solid ballhandler/passer. Can shoot off the dribble. Improved defender, must play stronger on-ball D. Shooting range 15 feet.
75.Chase Jackson (6'8" C 2008) - Rose Hill Academy
Force on boards. Intimidating defender in half-court set. Post game improving, can finish in traffic. Must improve shooting range.
76.Victor Moses (6'3" SF 2008) - Henry Clay
Complete defender. Quick and agile. Can drive off dribble. Can rebound, hits offensive boards. Slasher that finishes strong. Tough in transition.
77Jordan Lee (6'6" PF 2008) - Scott County
Rising stock. Continues to improve offensively and defensively. Limited range, can finish at basket. Improving agilities will strengthen post play.
78.Cody Gilbert (6'3" CG 2006) - Wolfe County
Complete package, dribble, penetrate, shooting, and defense. Continues to improve and will be the focus of attention from rival coaches in the 14th Region.
79.Josh Jarboe (6'2" SG 2007) - Bullitt Central
Can create problems for defenders with ability to shoot and score in a variety of ways. Can hit the 3 with consistency. Solid in transition, best in half court set.
80.Clark Stepp (6'3" SG 2008) - June Buchanan
Flawless shooter. Can shoot with unlimited range. Can shoot from spot and equally effective off dribble. Defense lags offensive skills. Will improve.
81.Matt Chambliss (6'0" PG/SG 2008) - Louisville Trinity
Lefty with a solid game. Tough to rattle. Sees court well, strong ballhandler and fundamental passer. Basketball aptitude and strength makes for solid floor leader. Soft shooting touch from spot, must improve off-dribble shooting.
82.Jermie Tribble (6'0" CG 2006) - Valley
Explosive athlete with ability to lead break at any time. Hard-nosed defender that can pressure the point. Limited shooting range from 12 feet in.
83.Dexter Hayman (6'4" PF/C 2008) - Louisville Male
Gifted athlete. Strength is absolute advantage on boards. Strong post play on both ends, plays physical. Limited post moves offset by ability to get to basket and finish. Must develop short jumper and become more fundamental defender. Will continue to improve.
84.Arrez Henderson (5'11" SG 2008) - Covington Holmes
Tremendous shooting range. Can score in a variety of ways, streaky at times. Solid playmaker. Solid open-court player, can finish in transition. Improved defender.
85.Adam Decker (5'11" PG 2008) - Pleasure Ridge Park
Natural floor leader. Ballhandling is good, better court awareness. Solid assist/turnover ratio, makes few mistakes. Improved strength and defense. Outstanding summer development.
86.Sam Lawson (6'3" SG 2006) - Dixie Heights
Lethal scorer with extended shooting range. Can penetrate for shot or dish with relative ease. Footwork makes him difficult to defend and a strong on-ball defender. Could have great year in 9th Region.
87.Andre Gardner (6'2" SF 2008) - Louisville Ballard
Tremendous agilities. Strong in transition, can finish at basket. Can score off drive or pull up for short jumper. Improving defensively. Strong rebounder for size.
88.Aaron Miller (6'3" SG/SF 2006) - Henry Clay
Henry Clay had successful summer AAU campaign and Miller's development accelerated. Improved defense and shooting range has overall game climbing.
89.Jeff Mullaney (6'0" CG 2008) - Louisville DeSales
Stock on rise. Strong open-court player, better half-court. Relentless defender, strong on-ball D. Can shoot with range, hits 3's. Will continue to rise.
90.Brandon May (6'4" SF 2006) - Sheldon Clark
Summer play and development has proven to be extremely beneficial for this player. Will be scoring threat inside and out. Versatile defender. Could be top 20 player by season's end if strong play from summer carries over.
91.Michael Sparks (6'3" SF 2008) - Tates Creek
Explosive in open court. Can rebound, plays defense. Can score off drive, finishes strong in transition. Handles have improved. Summer development is key for upcoming season.
92.Rob Giltner (6'4" PF 2008) - Louisville Trinity
Strong summer development. Improved footwork and post play. Strong rebounder. Fundmentally sound offensively. Can score at the post and step out for midrange jumper. Must improve defensively.
93.Brian Hewitt (6'3" SG/SF 2006) - Lexington Catholic
Marksman from outside the arc, one of the top shooters in the state. Improved footwork will aid in getting more open looks and defending the perimeter and post.
94.Dustin Fothergill (6'3" SG/SF 2006) - Southwestern
Can effectively play the 2, 3, and 4 slots. Inside/outside offensive threat makes defending him tough assignment. With improved leadership, possibility for team to win 12th Region is real.
95.Justin Hicks (5'10" PG 2007) - Hazard
Will be the engine that gives Hazard a chance to compete. Can slice up defenses with his ability to drive and find open shooters. A fierce competitor that challenges taller defenders. Ability to dictate tempo.
96.Jeffrey McClain (6'5" PF 2007) - Fulton County
A blue-collar worker on defense. Goes to the board every trip down the court. Finishes strong in half-court set. Extremely versatile player on each end of the court.
97.Jarrell Mayo (6'1" CG 2007) - Russellville
Explosive playmaker off dribble. Tough to defend straight up. Will push the tempo and has terrific court awareness. Will make Russellville a threat to win the 13th Region.
98.Todd Jacobs (6'0" CG 2007) - Covington Catholic
Summer developments have added to fast rising stock. Averaged double figures as a sophomore. Added speed and strength will make him a difference maker this season.
99.Daniel Day (6'4" SF 2006) - Leslie County
Multi-dimensional scorer creates mismatch problems in every game. Can post up smaller defenders and drive on slower less agile players from the perimeter. Can play defense inside/out.
100.Ridge Wilson (6'3" PF 2009) Louisville Central
Fierce rebounder. Enormous strength for level. Strong ballhandler, can drive off dribble. Strong upside. Limited shooting range.
These rankings are done as objectively as possible after watching hundreds of games since the 2004-05 season, including:
  • 04/05 Regular Season games, district and regional tournaments in several regions, and the Sweet 16
  • King of the Bluegrass and Louisville Invitational Tournament
  • AAU state tourneys (14-U, 15-U, 16-U, 17-U)
