This weekend a total of nine football programs will visit the Bluegrass from Tennessee, Ohio, Illinois, Virginia, Florida and Mississippi.
Four of the schools will get a taste of what the cream of the crop is in the Commonwealth is like and vise versa.
Friday, McCallie School (Tenn.) will get a shot to do what no one has done in over three years -- defeat the Bowling Green Purples. The Purples have won 58 straight games, two off the largest streak in the history of KHSAA football which is held by Trinity(50).
Obliviously Bowling Green remains undefeated and No.1 in KHSAA's Class 5A. McCallie's record is also with out a blemish, but it's ranked No. 3 in Tennessee's Division II.
The city of Louisville will host two top out-of-state schools Friday night.
St. Xavier will host Ohio's No. 1 Division I team, in Cincinnati Moeller. Moeller already dismantled one Kentucky high school this year when it defeated Covington Catholic 39-0.
Also Trinity will bring in the visitor traveling the longest when Cocoa (FL) comes to Marshall Stadium. The Shamrocks will be tested once again and this may be their biggest test yet. Cocoa is ranked as the No. 2 team in Florida's Class 4A with plenty of high-Division-I prospects on the roster.
Saturday, McCracken Co. hosts Southaven (MS). The Mustangs will get the No. 11 team in Mississippi, according to Max Preps. Southaven is undefeated, but this trek is its first away from home. McCracken has shot up the ranks by defeating the best far western Kentucky has to offer. The Mustangs have a chance to prove their true value in this one.
Other game with out-of-state competition in the Bluegrass tonight:
Valley (Lucasville), OH @ Flemming Co.
Battle Ground Academy, TN @ Franklin Simpson
Eldorado, IL @ Fulton City
Dawson Bryant (Coal Grove), OH @ Raceland
Hurley, Va @ Shelby Valley
* Ashland Blazer will take on Ironton (OH) on the road Friday night as well.
