Russellville makes the trip to Mayfield for the second time in a month.  What has changed?
Russellville has experienced injuries with 3 of the biggest contributers between Croslin, Dardin, and Hampton, but all will be playing friday and near 100%.

Has mayfield experienced any injuries since then?

Everyone knows what Russellville is going to do, they are going to come in and grind it out on the ground and exploit any missed tackles.  To me the question is what will they do different on defense?  The QB is mechanical when given time.

Will ulitmately come down to the turnover battle and who makes the most errors.

I think the only player that is questionable at the moment is Deion Jackson, our main wide receiver, it seems likely that he will not get to play Friday and that's a tough blow to our offense for sure, he's usually good for 1-2 scores in a game.  Our defense seems to be playing even better than weeks past, we spent a lot of time in the backfield against holy cross and we haven't seen that in quite a while this year.  Our running game has stepped up a notch and I think there are a lot of wrinkles that Joe could throw in if he needs to.  Turnovers will be a key issue to the outcome of the game and could keep things close.  I think Mayfield is a lot more unpredictable than Russellville at this point so that should give the edge to Mayfield.

Heart wants RVK, head says Mayfield 42-21.

If it rains Friday, and RVK is able to control the clock, they have a good chance.  Other than that, Mayfield is just too much.

#8 last I heard will be fine to go Friday.
#5 who was limited the last time around and only played defense should be back to 100% and able to play both ways.
#2 who had a scare first round of playoffs is back to 100%

Gotta love comments like that. Everybody seems to be talking about last games changes at the half and how great they were for Mayfield. I see it a little different. Sure they have some of the best in the buisness, I'm not doubting that. But Russellville shot themselves in the foot a lot that second half. They still moved the ball on the cardinals the 2nd half.
They could not finish drives because of turnovers which I will say Mayfield seems to always shine in that statistic. Russellville has a dandy at the helm to in coach John Myers. Does no one think that he's going to make the right changes for his team the 2nd time around? If they hold on to the pigskin they will be in the game till the end. They are a tough scrappy bunch and honestly the best team russellville has had in a while and they had some tough ones back in 09 and 10, ask your rival tilghman about em. There ganna bring it and give it all they got. Will it be enough I do not know? My prediction is the cards by 10, but they better bring it from the first whistle to the last or they are going to be upset at the end of this one.

I somewhat agree with you on this.

I don't think any on either side show D1 scholarship material, maybe I'm wrong.

#8 Demarcus Hampton is probably the most physically gifted of all of them, but doesn't seem to have much of an interest in football as his future.  That being said, he's runs hard, plays through pain, and doesn't let his teammates down.  He has the highest ceiling of anybody in this class.

Mayfields fast WR is a great athlete but to short for a D1 wr and doesn't really have the frame to pack on the muscle.

Barret Croslin QB has the intangibles with the ball in his hand to make plays happen on the ground, but hasn't been developed enough as a passer to really see what he has.

Underclassman wise for Russellville,
Tacorian (Coco) Darden #5 shows the shiftyness and knack for making plays that coaches like on the defensive side of the ball, not sure his speed may be where a big D1 school would want it, and it would certainly help for him to get closer to the 6 ft mark (probably not going to happen) but he is an electric athlete that will have options to play at the next level.

Desmond Quarles is another underclassman to watch, he is big and strong and runs the ball very well.  He could develop into the type of athete a D1 program takes and molds into whatever postion fits him best, FB, DL, OL, TE who knows.

My take on Russellville is a talented team that runs the option very well and has hardnosed players. However, not being able to pass the ball is their big down fall. A team that gets the lead on them and can play decent defense should beat them because they are not built to come from behind. Regardless, Mayfield should not over look them and not think that just because you beat them the 1st time that a win is guarenteed.

Russellville had 5 turnover, Mayfield 3.  Both would benefit from fixing that.  Russellville will again likely have a bunch if they pass alot and their great QB tries to do to much.  His decision making had alot to do with the turnovers.  He would stick it in the fullbacks belly and keep it there to long then try and pull it out after contact or after the RB was taking off with it.  He also ran the option and elected to pitch to late. Mayfield improved on the option once they got a DB to come up and take the pitch guy but of course that left us more vumerable to the pass as a safety had to rotate over but it worked the first time and really caused Russellville problems.  Guhy is not likely to throw 2 int's again this time.  He has rarely done that in in long career here so I hope that cuts down on the Mayfield turnovers.  Like WK said, if you don't bring it all and do so early you will get a L.  Russellville is about as tough as they come

Mayfield is loaded with seniors and is playing at home.  Russellville will cut down on the turnovers this trip to Mayfield, but it still won't be enough.

Wasn't sure what to expect from this game, but didn't expect to keep em out of the end zone. I think the Cardinal D felt they needed to prove something tonight...and they did. I think we can all expect to see the Panthers twice a year (most years) for the foreseeable future. When Crittenden County moved to 2A a lot of people were asking if Rville could fill those shoes. I think that question has been answered. See you guys again next year.

For the Cards - outstanding job! It wasn't always pretty but a W is a W, especially against a very good team deep in the playoffs. Go Big Red!

Great game by mayfield. The decided to make rville beat them with the pass and they shut down the offense for negative rush yards.

Rville D played excellent and was slowly worn down by the balance of Mayfield's offense.
22 and 1 played great on offense and guhy did everything he needed to do.
Rville can play the what if game of if #8 had been able to go at RB, but it still would have came down to can they pass.
Good luck to the cardinals.

Very suprised we had positive yards will all the bad snaps.  Seemed like we went backwards on every play.  Rville linemen did not show up last night.  I my opinion, that was deciding factor.  Many props to mayfield.  They beat us at our own game:  running the ball!  Passed the ball just enough to keep us honest.  Defense was on field to much and for the most part on a short field.  Good luck to the Cardinals the rest of the year.  Also thank the Rville seniors for four great years.  For the younger kids, this should make you want to work that much harded in the off season to get over the hump
