Murray is up 20-7 at the half.  Caldwell scored in 3 plays on their first possession and Murray has completely shut them down ever since.  Ought to be a good 2nd half.

Caldwell has trimmed the lead. 2 big special teams plays have helped them. Murray's D is still having a very respectable game thus far.

Upset brewing in Princeton? Just 12 minutes left.

Murray intercepts Caldwell County in the end zone. Murray will kneel down to end the game. Caldwell's season has ended and Murray will advance to play at DeSales. WOW
Murray 27
Caldwell County 14 FINAL

I'm not certain on final stats, but Sindelar had a dismal game (by his standards and talent level) tonight.

Murray wins 27-14.   Amazing night by Murray.  Held Caldwell to 14 points.

WOW!!! Big win for Murray!

well this Mayfield fan has to give kudos to Murray for playing tough Caldwell will have alot back next year maybe they get it done then good luck Murray it isnt going to get any easier now.

Caldwell had 4 turnovers.  Great defense by Murray.  On offense, Murray did what Murray does best---control the ball and grind down the clock.  Thus, Caldwell's defense got worn down.  And, Caldwell's offense could not get on the field.  Murray dominated time of possession with at least a 2 to 1 ratio.

This is a HUGE upset and I literally don't believe it. A lot of Caldwell people thought they would win the State Championship with no trouble at all. I was right with them. Congrats to Murray on a win I don't even have words to describe!

Caldwell had at least 3 possessions in the 4th quarter.  The first one started on their own 5 and in 5 or 6 plays they had first and goal at the Murray 4.  4 plays later they didn't score.  Again on the second possession they moved the ball quickly into Murray territory but a holding penalty cost them and they turned it over on downs.  The third possession they went right down the field again, only this time Murray intercepted a pass in the end zone.  Listened on the radio, but it sounded like to me; Murray allowed Caldwell to move the ball with the shorter passes but never got burned deep.

Hey Caldwell, welcome to our world!  Sounds like a mirror image of Owensboro Catholic game last weekend...we could move the ball down the field at ease only to self destruct within 10 yards of the goal line.  I've smiled all season reading how awesome Caldwell is, their QB is all world, etc etc... only to have Murray crash the party.  OCath has lived that nightmare two years in a row as #1  in '11 and '12 and then again this year.  Caldwell, we know how it feels.  Murray, congrats, you're a giant killer again this year.

HOLY S.....! Hard for a Mayfield fan to say this............, but I'm impressed! Obviously we all knew Murray had a good team and they were good at playing their game, but WOW!!!!!! I'm not as shocked that Murray won as I am that they held Caldwell's offense to only 14 points. Whether it was due to turnovers or anything else isn't what counts. Holding Caldwell (who's offense was NOT overrated) to 14 points is an achievement no matter how you do it. not many teams could pull that off without committing multiple gun related felonies. Congrats on the win Murray

I know it's early, but it sure would be nice for Mayfield, Murray, and Tilghman to all win state title.

Kudos to Murray. Rumor has it in the first game Murray didn't think the Caldwell receivers could beat them in man coverage. Tonight they played a lot of deep zone and kept everything in front (similar to the O Cath game). On offense Duncan actually broke the bone and spread the defense out (albeit only slightly) by running an I with a split end. That gave them all the space they needed. I think they threw maybe two passes tonight

Congrats Murray, coach Duncan seems to pull a rabbit out of his hat every year in the playoffs.

That's a countdown till lesterPaddog gets on and says how bad of a coach David Barnes is and how he can't win the big games. Blah Blah Blah etc etc. Shame on you lester if you do so, this was a helluva team that had a helluva run. Congratulations to Caldwell and Coach Barnes on a great year! Don't forget Sindelar is back again next year and you can bet his ass will be hungry all year. A tip of the cap goes out to Murray as well.

From one DC guy to another, great job Coach Barnes!

-----Lester might be on to something. Caldwell was the most undisciplined team I saw play all year. Lack of discipline has to fall on the coaching staff-----

Lester might be "on" something, I don't know about "on to" something. I agree with you that when a team is undisciplined it falls back on the head coach. I have never seen Caldwell play so I can't say how disciplined or undisciplined they are, all I read is the scores in the paper and the headlines about their star QB. I do know that when Barnes was at DC he ran a very tight ship, he didn't always have to most talent but his teams at DC were very disciplined and they worked hard.

What kind of undisciplined were they? Throwing their helmet on the sideline, cursing out the coach undisciplined or jumping off sides undisciplined? Now to me those are two very different areas of being undisciplined. Jumping off sides and things of that nature is on the players and not the coaches. I just don't see Coach Barnes letting players get away with acting a fool. I doubt he has changed that much in his time away from DC.

I agree. They lost to Mayfield, who lost to Caldwell Co, who lost to Murray. I'd say Coach Duncan has studied and seen so much tape of Caldwell Co. that he knew their offense about as well as Barnes. I'm not knocking Barnes, I think he has put Caldwell Co. back on the map. I just love to see coaches, who lose in the regular season and learn from that and make the right adjustments. Coach Barnes does that as well as anyone. DeSales coach did the same thing against CAL. Lost a close game in regular season and wore the same team out in the playoffs. That's a sign of a good coach. I'm afraid DeSales might be a little to much for Murray to handle in the semifinal. Good luck to all for making it this far.

Have to tip your hat tip Dee Cain. He had two huge special teams plays that put Caldwell in position, but they couldn't cash in. When you have 4 turnovers and run less than twenty plays in the first half, you aren't going to win.

I Didn't have to, the results speak for themself. Thanks for doing it for me.

I said at the time that it was a mistake for Caldwell to postpone the game with Ft. Campbell.  Caldwell played in nearly perfect conditions all year long.  I realize several teams postponed their games that night.  But in reality, that decision is likely haunting barnes.  If they had played on the wet track and with the wind that came through that night (it had stopped raining by 5) then they likely learn how to deal with the tough conditions.  Instead, they waited til a REALLY tough matchup against Murray to learn that it isn't easy to play in windy conditions with a wet field...

Lesson likely learned.  But it should have been learned 2 months ago.  Instead, a team that should have run away with the 2a title is left to wonder, "what if".
