The sky is the limit for Christian Academy of Louisville's Milton Wright

2019 Christian Academy of Louisville athlete Milton Wright is one of the most elusive players on the Kentucky gridiron. He's also hard to catch on social media because Wright is one of the few high schoolers in the country without a twitter account. However, through a joint effort between CAL head coach Stefon LeFors and KentuckyPreps we were finally able to tackle Wright for an interview.

The dynamic playmaker amassed a bevy of accolades last year, the most notable being his two 2nd-team All-State WR selects from both the Associated Press and the Courier-Journal. His season's worth of yeoman's work for the Centurions helped them become the 2A Kentucky state champions, the school's first football championship. In the state title game, he played a part in all three of CAL's touchdowns (2 receiving, one passing) propelling them to a 24-6 victory over Danville.

"First of all, we've always had a mindset we could win state as a football team. We focused on building a family and brotherhood first, then putting the hard work and dedication into achieving what we wanted. Everyone understood that and we had a lot of fun working together to accomplish our goal (winning the state title)," said Wright. "Coach Lefors is a very dedicated, savvy, and hard-working coach. He is always there when you need him on and off the field. He always checks in on us, not just on our grades, but how our family is doing, and if we are OK."

Wright heaped heavy praise upon coach Lefors and the entire CAL staff for pushing himself and his teammates to improve and not get complacent. His sentiments were just too voluminous to quote, but it is easy to see that Wright has personally bought into LeFors' family culture. The 2A state championship trophy suggests that the entire team bought in as well.

On an individual level, Wright finished the season with 30 touchdowns as follows, 17 receiving, four punt returns, three interception returns, three passing, two kickoff returns, and one rushing.

As an athlete, Wright stands 6-foot-2, weighs 185-pounds, and shows the athletic ability to be a playmaker at the college football "power-5" level. He can dunk a basketball with two hands by way of his vertical leap. He ran an 11.3 in the 100-meter-dash as an 8th grader but hasn't been timed since. His personal best in the long jump is 21.5-feet. He didn't participate in track and field as a freshman in 2016 but says he will compete as a sophomore this outdoor season, once CAL's basketball season is complete. Wright is currently playing guard-forward for the Centurions hoops squad.

The sophomore playmaker is already viewed as one of the top recruits in Kentucky and holds offers from Louisville, Illinois, Purdue, and Kentucky.

He told KentuckyPreps he is hoping to visit Kentucky's junior day this Saturday. The uncertainty surrounding the visit is not a reflection of his interest level but due to the recency of the Wildcat's scholarship offer, which was extended just this week.

Wright and his father will, however, be attending Louisville's junior day on March 4th. Louisville was the first school to offer Wright back in the summer of 2016.

No other visits are in the works at this early point in the sophomore's recruitment and Wright said that he will be taking his time with the process and weighing all of his options carefully.
