St. Xavier quarterback Brian Buehner completed 8-13 passes, for 118 yards and one touchdown Saturday night, as the Tigers knocked off Trinity 32-7, in front of 26,614 fans at Papa John's Cardinal stadium. The 6-foot-0, 180 senior also had 110 rushing yards. KenutuckyPreps.com writer Michael Johnston was on hand to catch all the action. St. Xavier got on the board first, when running back Jermiah Neal ran the ball 80 yards for a touchdown. The 5-foot-10, 185 pound senior ran the ball seven times, for 103 yards. "It was a big run," Neal said. "I got some good blocks and I saw the hole and I ran it in." The extra point was no good, so the Tigers went into the second quarter with a 6-0 lead. Buehner hooked up with his tight end, Byran Noltemeyer, for a 50 yard touchdown pass and the Tigers went up 13-0 but Trinity answered, when quarterback Brad Kragthorpe, son of University of Louisville coach Steve Krafthorpe, hooked up wide receiver Darick Nix for a 10 yard touchdown pass. St. Xavier led at halftime 13-7. That was all the scoring the Shamrocks would have in this one. St. Xavier tacked on two more offensive touchdowns, an 18 yard run by Michael Montano and a six yard run by Lamont McMurry. Junior defensive back Daylen Hall ended the game in impressive fashion, when he intercepted a Kragthorpe pass and returned it 99 yards, for the games final score. After the game St. Xavier coach Mike Glasser was happy with the win but knows his team still has things they need to work on. "We made some mental mistakes," Glasser said. "We have to get some things worked out. I think we had four fumbles and those are things that we have to stop. I think our guys tried too hard." Glasser was very happy with his team's offensive production. "I was very happy with the offensive game plan. I thought coach (Pat) Chitwood called a great game. He's a very smart offensive coordinator." This is the third straight year St. Xavier has beaten Trinity in the regular season. However, the last two seasons Trinity has gotten revenge and knocked the Tigers out of the playoffs. Glasser is sure to remind his team of that fact. "This game doesn't mean a thing," Glasser said. "It's just another ball game. We are not celebrating a thing. It's big for the fans but our goal is to win a state championship. Trinity will be back and we could play them again. We have to find a way to beat them the second time." St. Xavier will host Butler next week, while Trinity will host Seneca.
