D'Angelo Hunter scored for PRP and Daelyn Franklin answered for Doss with two free throws. Doss' Justin Love then tied the game at 11 with a free throw. LaMontray Harris scored for PRP next, on a putback, to put PRP up. But, Doss held for the last shot of the quarter and Martinus Williams hit a 3 to give the Dragons a 14-13 lead after one quarter.
PRP scored the first 5 points of the second quarter, but Doss quickly answered to make it 18-16 PRP with 5:42 left in the half. PRP then went on a 7-2 run capped by a Khalid Raheem fast break lay-up to make it a 25-18 PRP lead. Tyler Jefferson quelled the run with a putback to make it 25-20.
Both teams traded baskets for the rest of the half, Doss trailed 32-27 with 10 second left and the ball. Tyler Jefferson was fouled with 0.9 second left, but he missed both free throws and PRP took a 32-27 lead into the half. Tay Weaver came out hot for Doss in the third quarter. He scored 8 of Doss' first 10 points and Doss cut PRP's lead to 39-37. PRP pushed their lead back to five with a Harris bucket and a Greg Davidson free throw to give them a 42-37 lead.
Doss closed the quarter on an 11-0 run. First Terrell Gray scored on a putback, then he hit a three to tie the game at 42. Then Martinus Williams drilled a three from the left corner to put Doss up 45-42. Gray closed out scoring in the half with another 3.
PRP made several runs at Doss in the 4th quarter, but every time they got close Terrell Gray made a big play to extend Doss' lead. Gray scored 19 of his game high 29 points in the 4th quarter, he also pulled down the game clinching defensive rebound and hit two free throws to seal the game as #10 Doss beat #8 PRP 72-67.
Terrell Gray led Doss with 29 points and LaMontray Harris led PRP with 21 points.
- This win makes Doss the team to beat in the 6th Region at this point in the season. Can the Dragons maintain this type of play throughout the season?
- Doss Coach K.C. Goodin talked highly of junior guard Terrell Gray the entire preseason. Is Gray's huge outburst a sign of more to come?
- LaMontray Harris led Pleasure Ridge Park with 21 points. Harris is a Mr. Basketball candidate and will need to keep up that production to have a shot at the award.
- Harris was hindered as time winded down with calf cramps, PRP couldn't sustain a run without him.
