The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers land another in-state commitment in 2014 Ballard wide receiver Will Bush.
Tuesday, the state-champion sprinter made his decision and tweeted out that he would attend college on The Hill. Bush told Kentuckypreps.com, "WKU felt like a good fit, pass-first offense and Coach Petrino is an offensive genius."
The Toppers offered Bush before he really had a varsity role on the football field. Now after 5 games, Bush leads his team in receiving yards (399) and touchdowns (3). (Ballard has played six games but stats from their game against Male have not been reported to KHSAA.org)
The wide receiver position at WKU is young and will grow with two other notable pass catchers, in Nacarius Fant and Deandre Farris. Leading receivers Willie McNeal and Joel German will be seniors from there the Tops are very youthful. Nicholas Norris and Taywan Taylor are both freshman that see playing time for WKU.
With all of those receivers in his class and the one above it Bush still believes he will go right in and compete for playing time. He said "That's what they tell me, that I have the ability to come in and play right away."
After visiting this past weekend, it would seem that may have been the final straw. Bush tells otherwise, "Not really, but it didn't hurt seeing how nice the campus was."
He would also like to continue is career on the track, though the reigning 100-meter state champion says he will have to talk to the coaching staff about it.
This also marks the eighth Bluegrass prospect that the Hilltoppers have landed.
