The 2017 class is shaping up to be extremely solid with a lot of talented freshman to be. Kentucky Preps will be taking a look at some of the best freshman to be in a series called Freshman Spotlight. We'll be asking each of the players 20 questions to get to know some of them as they start their high school career.
2017 Hopkinsville Guard C.J. Henagan played for Attucks Wolfpack this Summer, he averaged 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. He played both freshman basketball for Hopkinsville and middle school basketball for Hopkinsville middle. He averaged 12 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals in high school ball and 20 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in middle school basketball. Henagan was named 1st Team All-Tournament at the KBA 8th Grade State Tournament.
Q. (Donald Yaste): What High School will you be attending?
A. (C.J. Henagan): Hopkinsville High School.
Q. (DY): How has this Summer prepared you for this coming high school season?
A. (CJH): It has exposed me to different levels of competition which has helped me improve my game tremendously.
Q. (DY): What expectations do you have for yourself going into this high school season?
A. (CJH): I have worked hard on improving my game. I hope to make an immediate impact on the team through my shooting, passing and ball-handling abilities
Q. (DY): What are your expectations for your team?
A. (CJH): Win a state championship.
Q. (DY): What is your current height and weight?
A. (CJH): I'm 6'2 158 pounds.
Q. (DY): Describe your style of play?
A. (CJH): An all-around type of player. I can shoot, pass, handle the ball, score in transition and play in the post when needed. I love having the ball in my hand and can do damage in an isolation situation.
Q. (DY): What are you strengths?
A. (CJH): Scoring by creating my own shot and passing.
Q. (DY): What are your weaknesses?
A. (CJH): Off ball movement .
Q. (DY): What do you hope to accomplish through playing basketball?
A. (CJH): To get a scholarship to a Division I college.
Q. (DY): Have any colleges reached out to you at this point? If so who?
A. (CJH): Yes, Murray State.
Q. (DY): What is your greatest fear?
A. (CJH): Having surgery.
Q. (DY): What is your best characteristic?
A. (CJH): My intelligence.
Q. (DY): What is your nickname and how did you get it?
A. (CJH): Ceej, I got it from my 8th grade social studies teacher.
Q. (DY): What is one hidden talent you possess?
A. (CJH): I can cook.
