The 2017 class is shaping up to be extremely solid with a lot of talented freshman to be. Kentucky Preps will be taking a look at some of the best freshman to be in a series called Freshman Spotlight. We'll be asking each of the players 20 questions to get to know some of them as they start their high school career.
2017 Ohio County Guard/Forward Ross Tichenor played for OC Eagles AAU and Ohio County last high school season.
Q. (Donald Yaste): What High School will you be attending?
A. (Ross Tichenor): Ohio County High School.
Q. (DY): How has this Summer prepared you for this coming high school season?
A. (RT): N/A.
Q. (DY): What expectations do you have for yourself going into this high school season?
A. (RT): I expect to get a lot of varsity minutes and make the most of them.
Q. (DY): What are your expectations for your team?
A. (RT): To win the district tournament and then win the region tournament and return to state.
Q. (DY): What is your current height and weight?
A. (RT): I'm 6'3 165 pounds.
Q. (DY): Describe your style of play?
A. (RT): Attack the basket and use my mid-range game.
Q. (DY): What are you strengths?
A. (RT): Rebounding, taking my defender off the dribble, attacking the basket and making the mid-range shot.
Q. (DY): What are your weaknesses?
A. (RT): Defense.
Q. (DY): What do you hope to accomplish through playing basketball?
A. (RT): Get a free education and try to make a living off it.
Q. (DY): Have any colleges reached out to you at this point? If so who?
A. (RT): Yes, North Texas and Texas State.
Q. (DY): What is your greatest fear?
A. (RT): Injuring myself to where I can never play basketball again.
Q. (DY): What is your best characteristic?
A. (RT): I'm a very outgoing person and will talk to anyone.
Q. (DY): What is your nickname and how did you get it?
A. (RT): "Tich" because that's the first four letters of my last name, and that's what my dad was called in high school and one of my coaches called me it, so it kind of just stuck to me.
Q. (DY): What is one hidden talent you possess?
A. (RT): I can sing.
Q. (DY): What is your favorite quote?
A. (RT): "Train insane or remain the same."
Q. (DY): What is your favorite food?
A. (RT): Asian food.
Q. (DY): Who is your biggest role model?
A. (RT): My great grandfather because he taught me to never give up on something you love.
Q. (DY): What's your dream school?
A. (RT): University of Kentucky.
Q. (DY): Who is your dream coach?
A. (RT): Phil Jackson.
Q. (DY): Whose game to you model yours after?
A. (RT): Kevin Garnett or Dirk Nowitzki.
