The 2017 class is shaping up to be extremely solid with a lot of talented freshman to be. Kentucky Preps will be taking a look at some of the best freshman girls to be in a series called Freshman Spotlight. We'll be asking each of the players 20 questions to get to know some of them as they start their high school career.
2017 Bullitt East Guard Alyssa Peak started for Bullitt East's freshman and junior varsity teams last season and played varsity as well. She played with Kentucky Premier this Summer.
Q. (Donald Yaste): What High School will you be attending?
A. (Alyssa Peak): Bullitt East High School.
Q. (DY): How has this Summer prepared you for this coming high school season?
A. (AP): Playing at a higher level of competition this summer has helped me prepare for this coming high school season. When you play better teams you're forced to raise your level of play.
Q. (DY): What expectations do you have for yourself going into this high school season?
A. (AP): My expectation for myself this season is to get better everyday. No matter who you are there's always room for improvement.
Q. (DY): What are your expectations for your team?
A. (AP): I expect my team to make it to the state tournament this season.
Q. (DY): What is your current height and weight?
A. (AP): I am 5'4" and 115 pounds
Q. (DY): Describe your style of play?
A. (AP): I like to play fast and aggressive.
Q. (DY): What are you strengths?
A. (AP): My quickness is a big asset on both ends of the floor. I see the floor well and I can get to the rack.
Q. (DY): What are your weaknesses?
A. (AP): I have to continue working on finishing drives and my outside shot.
Q. (DY): What do you hope to accomplish through playing basketball?
A. (CW): My ultimate goal is to play in the WNBA.
Q. (DY): Have any colleges reached out to you at this point? If so who?
A. (AP): Yes, Eastern Kentucky University.
Q. (DY): What is your greatest fear?
A. (AP): My greatest fear is getting hurt and never being able to play again.
Q. (DY): What is your best characteristic?
A. (AP): My best characteristic is my work ethic. I always put forth my best at everything.
Q. (DY): What is your nickname and how did you get it?
A. (AP): Aly, short for Alyssa.
Q. (DY): What is one hidden talent you possess?
A. (AP): I'm also good at softball.
Q. (DY): What is your favorite quote?
A. (AP): "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." - Philippians 4:13
Q. (DY): What is your favorite food?
A. (AP): Steak.
Q. (DY): Who is your biggest role model?
A. (AP): My mom is my role model.
Q. (DY): What's your dream school?
A. (AP): The University of Kentucky is my dream school.
Q. (DY): Who is your dream coach?
A. (AP): Matthew Mitchell is my dream coach.
Q. (DY): Whose game to you model yours after?
A. (AP): I don't really model my game after anyone else's.
