Kentucky's class of 2014 is loaded with a lot of strong, talented female basketball players. Kentucky Preps will take a look at a few of these players in a feature series called "Best of the Best".
2014 DuPont Manual Point Guard Erika Hawkins sat down with us and answered a few questions. Erika played AAU this summer for the Louisville Sting.
Q. (Armond Wilson): How has this Summer prepared you for this coming high school season?
A. (Erika Hawkins): The summer prepared me for this upcoming high school season by helping me realize how much I will have to step up to lead our team.
Q. (AW): What expectations do you have for yourself this season?
A. (EH): Work hard, become an all-around better player, and help my team any way that I can.
Q. (AW): What are your expectations for your team?
A. (EH): I want us to remain humble, continue to work hard, and go for another state title.
Q. (AW): Describe your style of play?
A. (EH): "Fast Paced" I love back and forth types of games.
Q. (AW): What are you strengths and weaknesses?
A. (EH): My strengths are defense, handling the ball, and driving to the basket. My weakness is handling the ball under pressure.
Q. (AW): Have any colleges reached out to you at this point? If so who?
A. (EH): I haven't had any colleges reach out to me yet.
Q. (AW): What's your dream school?
A. (EH): University of Alabama.
Q. (AW): What is your favorite quote?
A. (EH): "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13
Q. (AW): Who is your biggest role model?
A. (EH): Le'Asia Wright(Now at Murray State) has always been like a sister to me.
Q. (AW): Whose game do you model yours after?
A. (EH): My teammate Teanna Curry, she's an amazing player.
