The 2017 class is shaping up to be extremely solid with a lot of talented freshman to be. Kentucky Preps will be taking a look at some of the best freshman to be in a series called Freshman Spotlight. We'll be asking each of the players 20 questions to get to know some of them as they start their high school career.
2017 Eastern Guard/Forward Jonathan Lane is strong player for his age and has great size at 6'3" 2015 pounds. He averaged 16 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals per game for F.O.C.U.S. this past Summer.
Q. (Donald Yaste): What Highschool will you be attending?
A. (Jonathan Lane): Eastern High School.
Q. (DY): How has this Summer prepared you for this coming high school season?
A. (JL): I know that I have to step my game up. Academic and athletic expectations will push me to a new level.
Q. (DY): What expectations do you have for yourself going into this high school season?
A. (JL): Being the best that I can be academically and athletically.
Q. (DY): What are your expectations for your team?
A. (JL): To win!!!
Q. (DY): What is your current height and weight?
A. (JL): I'm 6'3" 205 pounds.
Q. (DY): Describe your style of play?
A. (JL): I watch my opponent for weaknesses and loopholes then I capitalize off of it.
Q. (DY): What are you strengths?
A. (JL): I am a team player, I go hard, I don't back down when it's game time and I'm all in.
Q. (DY): What are your weaknesses?
A. (JL): I get frustrated when no one else is pulling their weight, I don't mind carrying the team, but there is no I in team.
Q. (DY): What do you hope to accomplish through playing basketball?
A. (JL): I hope to become one of the greatest, my ultimate goal is the NBA!
Q. (DY): Have any colleges reached out to you at this point? If so who?
A. (JL): I've spoken to a few college coaches.
Q. (DY): What is your greatest fear?
A. (JL): Not being the best I know I can be.
Q. (DY): What is your best characteristic?
A. (JL): I make people laugh and smile, they call me silly, but I am.
Q. (DY): What is your nickname and how did you get it?
A. (JL): Big Chief, it was given to me by my AAU Coaches (F.O.C.U.S).
Q. (DY): What is one hidden talent you possess?
A. (JL): I'm good at math, I like numbers and I'm outstanding at football.
Q. (DY): What is your favorite quote?
A. (JL): "Life is what you make it."
Q. (DY): What is your favorite food?
A. (JL): Meat, all types.
Q. (DY): Who is your biggest role model?
A. (JL): LeBron.
Q. (DY): What's your dream school?
A. (JL): University of Kentucky.
Q. (DY): Who is your dream coach?
A. (JL): Not sure.
Q. (DY): Whose game to you model yours after?
A. (JL): Lebron, Dwayne Wade, and Dwight Howard.
