The 2017 class is shaping up to be extremely solid with a lot of talented freshman to be. Kentucky Preps will be taking a look at some of the best freshman girls to be in a series called Freshman Spotlight. We'll be asking each of the players 20 questions to get to know some of them as they start their high school career.
2017 Monroe County Guard Reagan Turner averaged 6 points, 2 steals, 2 rebounds and 2 assists last year at Monroe County. She then averaged 16 points, 4 steals, 3 rebounds and 4 assists playing with Kentucky Premier this Summer.
Q. (Donald Yaste): What Highschool will you be attending?
A. (Reagan Turner): Monroe County High School.
Q. (DY): How has this Summer prepared you for this coming high school season?
A. (RT): I prepared for this high school season this summer by attending summer camps with my high school team, playing aau with Kentucky premier and spending many hours in the gym.
Q. (DY): What expectations do you have for yourself going into this high school season?
A. (RT): My expectations for this year are to play the best I can in every game and situation.
Q. (DY): What are your expectations for your team?
A. (RT): My expectations for our team this year are that we play together as a team and win the All 'A' Regional tournament so that we can compete at the state level. And to be district champions.
Q. (DY): What is your current height and weight?
A. (RT): I'm 5 foot 6 inches 120 lb.
Q. (DY): Describe your style of play?
A. (RT): My style of play is driving and slashing to the basket and I can shoot the three too.
Q. (DY): What are you strengths?
A. (RT): My strengths are my quickness, defense and shooting.
Q. (DY): What are your weaknesses?
A. (RT): I need to work on my midrange jumper.
Q. (DY): What do you hope to accomplish through playing basketball?
A. (RT): I hope to get a scholarship to a college and become a team leader both on and off the court.
Q. (DY): Have any colleges reached out to you at this point? If so who?
A. (RT): Yes. NKU, EKU, WKU, Dayton and Campbellsville.
Q. (DY): What is your greatest fear?
A. (RT): My greatest fear would be missing the last second shot to win a big game.
Q. (DY): What is your best characteristic?
A. (RT): I feel that my best characteristic would be that I'm a hard worker. I enjoy spending extra time in the gym.
Q. (DY): What is your nickname and how did you get it?
A. (RT): My nickname is Ray Ray. I've had this nickname ever since I can remember and it's never changed.
Q. (DY): What is one hidden talent you possess?
A. (RT): N/A.
Q. (DY): What is your favorite quote?
A. (RT): "Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen others make it happen." -Michael Jordan
Q. (DY): What is your favorite food?
A. (RT): My favorite food would probably be Japanese food.
Q. (DY): Who is your biggest role model?
A. (RT): My basketball role model would be Kenzie Rich because she was a small guard from my town who was an accomplished player during her high school and college career.
Q. (DY): What's your dream school?
A. (RT): I'm open minded.
Q. (DY): Who is your dream coach?
A. (RT): I don't have a particular dream coach.
Q. (DY): Whose game do you model yours after?
A. (RT): No particular person, I just try to do whatever I can to help my team win ballgames.
