The 2017 class is shaping up to be extremely solid with a lot of talented freshman to be. Kentucky Preps will be taking a look at some of the best freshman girls to be in a series called Freshman Spotlight. We'll be asking each of the players 20 questions to get to know some of them as they start their high school career.
2017 Glasgow Guard Elli Bartley averaged 12.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 5.5 assists per game this Summer playing with Kentucky Premier. She also averaged 5 points per game playing point guard for Glasgow last season.
Q. (Donald Yaste): What High School will you be attending?
A. (Elli Bartley): Glasgow High School.
Q. (DY): How has this Summer prepared you for this coming high school season?
A. (EB): I played basketball all summer against some of the best players around, with my Kentucky Premier team. I played 32 games plus the summer ball I played with my high school team.
Q. (DY): What expectations do you have for yourself going into this high school season?
A. (EB): I am going to always play hard, encourage my teammates and be the the best player I can.
Q. (DY): What are your expectations for your team?
A. (EB): To win region and go to state.
Q. (DY): What is your current height and weight?
A. (EB): I'm 5'3" 100 lbs.
Q. (DY): Describe your style of play?
A. (EB): I play with intensity, and like to push the ball up the floor.
Q. (DY): What are you strengths?
A. (EB): Ball handling, quickness and being a coach on the floor.
Q. (DY): What are your weaknesses?
A. (EB): My size.
Q. (DY): What do you hope to accomplish through playing basketball?
A. (EB): I would like to compete at the highest level possible, as well as earning a college scholarship.
Q. (DY): Have any colleges reached out to you at this point? If so who?
A. (EB): Dayton, Gardner Webb, Villanova, Marquette, Indiana, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Princeton, Tulsa, Northern Kentucky, Western Kentucky and Missouri
Q. (DY): What is your greatest fear?
A. (EB): Snakes.
Q. (DY): What is your best characteristic?
A. (EB): Leadership.
Q. (DY): What is your nickname and how did you get it?
A. (EB): My nickname is Elli Mae because everybody has always called me that.
Q. (DY): What is one hidden talent you possess?
A. (EB): N/A.
Q. (DY): What is your favorite quote?
A. (EB): "I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." -Michael Jordan

A. (EB): Chicken.
Q. (DY): Who is your biggest role model?
A. (EB): My mom.

A. (EB): I don't have one. I'm very open to any college that is interested in me.

A. (EB): Pat Summitt.
